Somerset West Private School celebrates 20 years of unblemished record with another 100% matric pass rate.
The top learner for 2017, Sebastiaan Steenkamp received R15 000 for achieving 5 A’s and an average of 82.3%.
Sebastiaan is planning on taking a gap year to travel and gain life experience. Thereafter he plans to study Political Science and Industrial Psychology.
There were seven post matric learners that did Mathematics (Gr 10-12) in one year and seven post matric learners that did Physical Sciences (Gr 10-12) in one year.
They all passed with flying colours.
Thirty post matrics came to Somerset West Private School to redo subjects and take new subjects, some improving their marks by more than 30%.
Nicholas De Villiers (Mathematics 82%; Physical Sciences 87%) has been accepted at the University of Stellenbosch to study B.Eng (Chemical) in 2018.
JP Van Rooyen who achieved 85% for Mathematics and 77% for Physical Sciences has been accepted at the University of Pretoria to study B.Sc. in 2018.
Carel Ackermann (Mathematics 70%; Physical Sciences 74%) has been accepted to the University of Stellenbosch to study B.Eng (Electrical) in 2018.
Justin Rawlins (Mathematics 81%; Physical Sciences 63%) has been accepted to the University of Stellenbosch to study B.Eng (Civil) in 2018.
