Ida Jacobson, a member of the Union of Jewish Women (UJW) Somerset West/Stellenbosch branch, distributed a batch of lovingly knitted beanies to preschoolers, including the Grade Rs learners of Bergendal Primary School in Suid-Agter-Paarl, St Idas RK Primary School in Stellenbosch and a creche in Mbekweni. Every year the avid knitter gets her needles clicking and donates more than 100 items to needy little ones at under-resourced schools. The beanies are handed over to children with a warm lunch or something sweet for extra cheer. “The gift of giving is sharing with others,” a statement from the UJW says. “Thank you, Ida.”
