Somerset West police swooped down on two suspects apprehended for the apparent possession of stolen property following two separate incidents.
A 32-year-old man was arrested after police followed-up on information received of alleged stolen property in Garden Village around noon last Wednesday (14 December).
The police officers seized an airgun, sunglasses and a torch believed to have been stolen from a vehicle in Somerset West.
The suspect, found to be in possession of the items, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and theft from a motor vehicle. He was expected to appear in the Somerset West Magistrates’ Court on Monday (19 December).
Last Thursday (15 December) around 05:35, a police officer arrested a suspect who was pushing a TV, which could not be accounted for, in a trolley.
It is believed the TV set was stolen from a residence in the area.
Once charged, the suspect is expected to appear in court on a charge of possession of stolen property and possibly housebreaking and theft.
Somerset West police station commander Colonel Jacolize Fleischmann commended the police members for the outstanding arrests.
