Kadoshi Judokwai Somerset West is filled with excitement as their talented judokas prepare to descend on the University of Pretoria for the prestigious South Africam Schools and National Open Championships from Monday 30 June to Saturday 5 July.

The club is sending a strong contingent, fresh off impressive performances at the recent Cape Town Judo Association (CTJA) qualifier on Saturday 17 May, which saw Kadoshi Judokwai members demonstrate their prowess on the mat.

Leading the charge was Charl du Toit, who secured a silver medal in the fiercely contested senior 81โ€‰kg category. Christo Cilliers also showcased remarkable skill, competing admirably in both the junior 73โ€‰kg and 81โ€‰kg divisions.

Young Tuvya Hough was a standout performer, grappling his way to a gold medal in the novice under 46โ€‰kg category. Not content with just one podium finish, Hough also earned two silver medals in the open under 46kg and under 50โ€‰kg categories, highlighting his versatility and potential.

The club will be making a significant contribution to the CTJA team by sending two formidable Kata pairs to nationals. Anja de Villiers and Hough will represent the club in the Group 2 division, while duo of Charl and Jean du Toit will compete in the senior division.
