The South African Mathematics Foundation (SAMF) has proudly announced the results of the ASSA South African Mathematics Team Competition 2024, showcasing the nation’s top mathematical talents from junior and senior levels.
This prestigious competition aims to nurture mathematical excellence among South African learners, identified through the South African Mathematics Olympiad (SAMO) and other SAMF Olympiad programmes. The event saw participation from 43 junior and 42 senior teams representing 19 regions nationwide.
Somerset College had a notable presence in the competition, with several learners contributing to the success of the Western Province teams. Nina Benson and Victoria Still were key members of the senior team, while Olivia Castleden and Petrus Bosman represented the junior team.
Winning teams: Junior Category (Grades 8-9) – Western Province 1; Senior Category (Grades 10-12) – Western Province 2.
