There’s R50 000 up for grabs in the fifth season of Helderberg’s Treasure Hunt SA, set to start on Sunday 6 February at 08:00. The adventure will last until the treasure chest is found.
An entry ticket of R150 is required to unlock the vault, and it enables you to participate in the hunt for the treasure chest.
Treasure Hunt SA is a non-profit community venture. Every ticket purchased contributes to a local cause, and this season R50 from every ticket sold will be donated to Heartlands Baby Sanctuary in Somerset West.
“We are delighted and feel so privileged to have been chosen as a beneficiary of the fifth season of the Helderberg Treasure Hunt,” commented Nikki Bower of Heartlands. “It is such a wonderful community driven event, also encouraging families to participate – underpinning our vision, which is to realise every child’s birthright to belong.”
The competition is open to all and is a fun way to bond with the whole family. Ten clues that could come in any format will be sent to hunters electronically when the treasure hunt starts. The cluse will lead hunters to the treasure chest if solved correctly.
Finding the prize is a fun challenge to be solved by you or your team. If not found on the first day, additional hints will be released the following Sunday at 08:00. Hints will be released every week until the last week of the month. Then one hint will be released every day on the last week until the chest is found.
You can claim the R50 000 prize by sending the digital key plus your unique code to Treasure Hunt SA. The treasure will never be in a dangerous place.
Treasure Hunt SA was founded by Somerset West resident Jacques de Jager. The idea was sparked during lockdown in 2020. “Being trapped inside our home inspired the question, ‘How can we inspire hope in people that this lockdown is not the end of the world?” De Jager stated on the website.
“Since science tells us that nothing better lifts our mood than Mother Nature, I was wrestling with the idea of how to motivate people to explore the outdoors. That’s what sparked the idea of hiding a treasure chest and inspiring people to go look for it for a worthwhile reward.”
He added that the adventure is for everyone, regardless of age, race or gender. “I hope you will be the bold one to find the treasure chest; if not, just enjoy the surroundings while searching for it. Now you have a reason to go out – let the chase begin!”
