A Women’s Day event to show that women still have the power was hosted at Iqra Learning Centre in Strand on Sunday 7 August. The theme of the event was “50 Shades of Glitz and Glamour” and guests had to wear formal to very smart casual outfits. Zahida Wentzel, principal at Strand Private Academy, and Nurjuhan van der Lilly (community worker) organised the event. Artist Toyer Abrahams was the headline performer along with vocalist Donné Brown, who also performed an item, and guest speaker Myra Meyer, who inspired the women in attendance. The sound was done by MC Jerome and DJ Mervyn. Here are some of the women who had a ball of a time at the event.Photo:
