Following several weather warnings last week and the water- logging of several sports grounds across the Western Cape, the Western Province Rugby Football Union postponed all of last weekend’s fixtures.

“This decision followed multiple notifications from municipalities, emergency services and clubs regarding adverse weather conditions,” said Faizel Felton, senior manager for club rugby at the union. “These conditions impact clubs in terms of facilities, transport and logistics.”

He added that in the interest of the safety of its members, and to alleviate strain on emergency services and facilities, all matches for junior and senior clubs were to be postponed.

Clubs will arrange new fixture dates for their postponed matches and notify the WP office of the alternate dates.

This weekend’s schedule fixtures is expected to resume as normal.
