Special hero bags from parents, staff and learners of Reddam House Somerset, along with handwritten notes of encouragement, were handed over to Dr Bryony May (far right) by the school’s Debbie Underwood, Lea Ammer and Kirsten Kleve.

Learners, parents and staff of Reddam House Somerset have thrown their weight behind two worthy causes during trying times in local communities.

The school was approached by parent Dr Bryony May, who started the Soap4Safety and Together Against Covid-19 initiatives in the Helderberg. She asked the school to assist with goody bags and a note of encouragement to support the staff at Nomzamo Day Hospital and Ikwezi Clinic. “Many healthcare workers are exhausted and need a boost in morale,” said May.

Teacher Debbie Underwood got the staff and learners on board and, together with the school’s Parents and Friends Committee, did an incredible job putting together special hero bags which were delivered last week. The treats and handwritten notes were received with much gratitude by the staff at the local health facilities.

Any other schools, individuals or companies who would like to be part of the Home Baked for Heroes campaign can contact May through the Together Against Covid-19 page on Facebook.
