Mental toughness, years of physical preparation and a sheer will to succeed were the cornerstones to Simon Ince conquering the choppy and chilly waters from Miller’s Point to Rooi Els at the weekend. The 62-year-old Somerset West resident became only the eighth person to complete the False Bay Crossing as well as the oldest person to achieve the feat. The latter may secure him a place in the record books! Through the feat the swimmer hopes to raise much-needed funds for the Tygerberg Hospital Children’s Trust.
