Louis Cronje, a Grade 10 learner at Parel Vallei High School, was again selected for the Western Cape senior mathematics team, which represented South Africa at the International Mathematics Competition (IMC) hosted virtually by Indonesia last Thursday (29 July). “It has been an honour to be selected to represent the Western Cape at the IMC for the third time. I was privileged to travel to Bulgaria for the IMC in 2018. Last year’s IMC was cancelled due to the pandemic and Indonesia was given the opportunity to host the competition online this year,” Louis said. “Each team consists of four members, with other provinces also entering teams. The Western Cape team included myself and three other boys from Rondebosch Boys’ High School. We had full-day online training for two weeks. The competition was tough, due to the level of skill required to solve the questions presented to the participants. It was a good experience and I am fortunate to have been chosen.”Foto:
