After a rigorous selection process that started at the end of 2023, the Junior City Council (JCC) of Cape Town and guest panellists selected Grade 11 Parel Valleier Nina Strydom as one of 50 learners who will serve on the Junior City Council for 2024. The Cape Town Junior City Council is a forward-thinking and non-partisan initiative by the City that allows young individuals an opportunity to delve into the intricate workings of the City Council and gain a deep understanding of governmental processes. The junior councillors will learn to comprehend the city’s budget, formulate budget proposals and interpret and communicate the City’s Integrated Development Plan. “Congratulations Nina, we know that your contributions will be invaluable!” the school posted on its Facebook page.
