Two people died and two others, including a teenager, were wounded in a shooting in Pholile informal settlement, Lwandle on Sunday (27 July).
According to the police report, the incident occurred at 21:39, when Lwandle police officers responded to a shooting in area.
On their arrival, officers found the body of a 41-year-old man, with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, lying in a pool of blood. The officers also found three cartridges and one projectile next to the body.
Further investigation of the scene led police to three other victims, who were transported to a nearby medical facility for medical treatment.
One, a 33-year-old man shot in the upper body, died on arrival while the other two, a 15-year-old boy shot in the left leg and a 38-year-old man shot in the torso, received treatment.
The motive for the shootings is still under investigation, while police are also investigationg whether the incident may be a professional hit.
Lwandle police opened a double-murder and double-attempted-murder case docket, which were being investigated by Lwandle detectives.
No arrests had been made at the time of publication.
