Police nab suspects in targeted extortion operation

Eight suspects were detained for questioning on a charge of extortion following an integrated operation executed by intervention police members of the Provincial Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Task Team in Strand on Sunday 21 July. Its purpose, which was clearly identified, was to respond to extortion-related incidents, which are identified as a high priority for the police in the Western Cape. Following meticulous investigation by seasoned detectives, the eight suspects were apprehended.
