The Cape Whalers Field Band was among numerous bands that participated in the Field Band National Championships, which was held at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday (7 October). The local band falls under the Field Band Foundation (FBF), a registered NPO that operates in three provinces. Currently the field band has projects in underprivileged areas and serves the communities of Stellenbosch and Macassar, boasting a total of 125 members.
