Zandvliet High School hosted neighbouring school Macassar Secondary in an annual derby day on Saturday 3 August.
Involving rugby, netball and chess, it was a momentous occasion for Zandvliet, as for the first time in almost 18 years it was hosting a rugby match on home soil.
The day was a great success, and a highlight was the opening ceremony, which was led by the Delft Community Cadets to welcome both the visiting and hosting teams as well as spectators.
The stakes were high for both rugby and netball matches, and the community came out in their numbers to support the learners.
Both Zandvliet and Macassar schools would like to thank the broader community of Macassar for their continuous support and making the weekend’s event a success.
