The importance of every role-player in ensuring safety and security on the beaches over the peak festive season was emphasised when all partners gathered in the parking area of the Strand Surf Lifesaving Club for the launch of a combined holiday-safety campaign on Saturday 9 December. Police, law enforcement, security companies, Strand and Gordon’s Bay Neighbourhood Watch, security companies Secure Rite and Gordon’s Bay Security, lifeguards, local National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) representatives, ER24 paramedics and a host of other partners all came together in a show of unity, strength and commitment in keeping everyone safe. One of the main focuses was readiness and preparedness for intervention in near-drownings or drownings in progress. Pictured are the local heroes who will be on duty for the entire holiday period.
