A group of ex-rugby players who played for Rangers RFC and St Matthews RFC many decades ago and are now senior citizens were all honoured for their contributions to society and the development of the Sir Lowry’s Pass community generally during a special breakfast hosted on Saturday (9 September).
The former rugby players are all older than 76 years, most in their 80s, and the guests of honour all arrived with their partners in a special convoy of colourful and flashy Lotus cars, organised to give them a treat, at the Ongegund Lodge in Sir Lowry’s Pass.
The event was hosted by the Brotherhood of Men, also known as the Bom squad, a group of friends who grew up in Sir Lowry’s Pass and played sport as well as social games together as youngsters.
“Most members of the group are not living in Sir Lowry’s Pass anymore,” a statement from the group said.
“The aim of the group is to honour members of the community who played a significant role in sport and the development of the community at large.”
At the event the guests of honour were shown appreciation and gratitude as their legacy lives on in Sir Lowry’s Pass, before breakfast was served and enjoyed by all.
