Flower fans flocked to Vergelegen Wine Estate in Somerset West for the much-anticipated Garden Weekend from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 October.
The event featured guided walks with the estate’s horticulturists, Richard Arm and Chris Randlehoff, followed by refreshments at the Rose Terrace Tea Room.
The horticultural team was on hand to dispense advice on a variety of plants and trees for sale, many of which had been propagated on the farm. The array included hydrangeas, cannas, foxgloves, dianthus, lavender, alstroemeria, salvia, gerbera and many more.
Vergelegen, a provincial heritage site, is open to the public daily. Guests can book a daily 75-minute heritage and garden walking tour, departing from the wine tasting room at 09:30. The cost is R95 per person and includes a Vergelegen seed packet.
