The Strand Moslem Council hosted its Community Festival on Saturday 4 November at Ben Friedman Square in Strand. The event started with an early-morning broadcast of Voice Of The Cape, which coincided with the opening of various food and clothing stalls. Nasheed performances (arabic poetry) were recited by learners of Strand Moslem Primary School and Madrassa tur Rajaa High School followed by a beautiful performance for the people of Palestine by Masjidul Ummah Daycare. The day also featured a book launches by Abdullah Gabier and Shayma Cassiem and later the afternoon a Q&A quiz session was hosted by well known resident Sedick Crombie. Guest speakers throughout the day included senior residents such as Ebrahim Rhoda, Sadik Fanie and Yusuf Rhoda among other beloved elders in the Muslim community.
