In support of World Entrepreneurship Day on Saturday 17 August, schools were given the opportunity to raise funds in Checkers stores by selling pancakes. One of the schools to participate was Temperance Town Primary School, which sold pancakes at Checkers Gordon’s Bay Mall. Putting their entrepreneurial skills on show on the day were Schean van Nieting, Demetri Sauls, Amy Sauls and Ashley Gibbons (Fresh Foods manager). Checkers provided all the necessary ingredients, but the learners had to take charge of the project – from mixing the pancake batter to manning their stalls, managing sales and exercising customer care. Schools were rewarded for their hard work by keeping all proceeds, thereby raising some much-needed funds.

Pancake success!
