The Galileo Open Air Cinema makes a welcome return this weekend, with a screening at Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West on Saturday (5 November).

The outdoor experience throughout summer features great movies, a festive atmosphere and a food market of local gourmet goodness served al fresco under a canopy of stars. The 11th annual season started runs until 29 April 2023.

It will feature rom-coms, cult classics, family favourites and golden oldies – ensuring all tastes are catered for.

The open-air cinema presents the ideal setting for an evening with family, friends, work socials, date nights and birthday celebrations.

This season for the first time ever, you can also visit at no charge during your birthday week (excluding special shows).

Screenings will be held at Kirstenbosch, Century City’s Central Park, Newlands Cricket Stadium, Stellenbosch Vineyards, Nooitgedacht Wine Estate and Lourensford, among others.

The fun starts at Lourensford on 5 November with the screening of A Star Is Born, followed by The Holiday on 25 February 2023 and Mamma Mia! on 29 April 2023.

Tickets, from R129 per person, are available online at www.thegalileo.co.za/movies. A range of ticket options are available. The gates open at 17:00 and the movie starts at sunset.

Patrons are advised to arrive early, find a spot on the luscious lawns and enjoy an evening of artisanal food, drinks, games, lively music and an overall great vibe.
