Community members gathered at the Lwandle Community Hall for the City App and Mobile Office roadshow.

The City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee member for Corporate Services Alderman Theresa Uys visited the Lwandle Community Hall as part of a collaborative effort among City departments to trial a City App community-outreach programme.

During this outreach residents were shown how to log service requests on their mobile phones. The City’s Customer Relations Mobile Office was also present to answer residents’ queries.

“Let me first thank the City’s Strand Environmental Health office for extending this invitation and seeing the opportunity to raise awareness of how to use the City’s App around Strand’s informal settlements,” Uys addressed those present.

“I walked the streets, met residents and listened to their concerns about their complaints not being reported on time. We then gathered at the community hall and did a step-by-step presentation on how to use the App.”

The City’s mobile app is available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Customers can view their area’s load-shedding status and timetables, find a local councillor, use the app to log service requests, comment on public issues that affect them and even log in to e-Services to access and pay their muni-

cipal bills.

“We would like to encourage residents to use their smartphones to take ownership and care when it comes to all the basic services rendered in their respective communities,” Uys added.
