In the dynamic realm of sports, where the spotlight often shines on established figures, a fresh and exciting contender has stepped onto the scene.
The Helderberg Senior Majorette Club, a newly formed group with a deep passion for drummies, has quickly made its mark, captivating audiences with their exceptional performances.
Founded by Liezl Dodo and Charmiq Adonis just over six months ago, the Helderberg Senior Majorette Club wasted no time in making its presence known in the sports world. Despite facing numerous financial hurdles, the club’s swift climb to success under the visionary leadership of chairperson McAnthony Dodo has been extraordinary. Defying expectations, they have outperformed seasoned competitors.
At the third Boland Majorette and Cheerleading Association (BMCA) competition hosted by Dr GJ Joubert Primary School at Charles Morkel Stadium on Saturday 8 June, the club’s majorettes achieved a series of impressive victories. Their accolades included second place in both the Small Mace Group and Small Baton Group, along with third-place finishes in Small Drill Display, Small Drill Overall and Small Drill Leader by Cloe Joseph.
Coach Caitlin Daniels’ strategic insight and fervour has been crucial in steering the team towards these victories, fostering a culture of excellence. Key contributions also came from Florence Ruiters (vice-chairperson) and Ryaan Cloete (assistant coach), whose dedication and hard work have been pivotal in the club’s achievements.
The Helderberg Senior Majorettes also performed at a youth event in Sir Lowry’s Pass on Monday 17 June and at the Miss Youth beauty pageant in Strand on Saturday 22 June.
With ambitious goals for the future, the club is steadfast in its pursuit of excellence.
As talented performers gear-up for their first provincial competition, scheduled to take place in Stellenbosch on Saturday 20 July, they invite support in the form of donations, monetary, props or uniforms, to help realise their dreams.
