A motorist who was nearly hijacked recently warns others to be cautious when driving in the Strand area.

Recalling his would-be moment of reckoning on Saturday (28 May), around 05:00, when on his way to work, Edward Abrahams said: “I stopped at the traffic lights in Main Road at Jimmy’s Trailer Hire [number 175]. It seemed there was no-one around when I stopped, but then all of a sudden my car was surrounded by three men who tried to open my doors.” Luckily the doors were locked and another motorist stopped behind him, which scared off the criminals.

“The lady climbed out of her vehicle and asked me if I was alright,” Abrahams said. “If it weren’t for her I don’t know what would have happened.” He said this had never happened to him before, and urged motorists to be aware of their surroundings on this road.
