The South African Naval College will host its annual Open Day on Saturday 20 July.
Apart from this being a major highlight on the social calendar, the event also serves to showcase the professionalism of the college and the South African Navy.
The event provides an opportunity to strengthen ties with other South African national defence units and the broader Helderberg community.
The vision of the officer commanding, Captain ZP Mabela, is to mark this year as “The Year of Achievements”, aimed at strengthening the military civil relations within the basin.
The event will commence with an open-day procession in Gordon’s Bay at 08:00. The parade will march from the Gordon’s Bay beachfront and end at the college parade ground, signifying the start of the open day.
All roads leading to the college from the BP service station will be closed for the duration of the procession.
Visitors will be treated to various naval static displays and dynamic exhibits within unit lines. The college will also be working with Gordon’s Bay Tourism and the Gordon’s Bay Business Association to make the day a success.
Food-stall and concession-stand spaces are available on lease to interested vendors at the college.
