A vegetation fire broke out along the fence of Hottentots-Holland High School, facing the N2, on Wednesday 26 February. According to Edward Bosch, spokesperson for the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service, vegetation was reported on fire at 08:08 and attended to by two fire engines and a skid unit from the Somerset West and Sir Lowry’s Pass fire stations. The fire caused a section of the left lane on the N2 to be closed, but swift action from the firefighters saw it extinguished within 30 minutes of their arrival. The cause of the fire had yet to be determined.Photo: Barend J Williams
