The case against a local teenager accused of murdering his brother has been psotponed.

The 18-year-old was arrested and charged after the incident at Vergelegen Estate on Thursday 24 February. It is alleged the suspect stabbed his 25-year-old brother after a fight broke out between them around 21:30. The victim succumbed to wounds and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Sergeant Suzan Jantjies, spokesperson for Somerset West police, confirmed details of the incident for which the motive remains unknown and that the case has been postponed to Thursday 5 May.

Vergelegen’s Wayne Coetzer confirmed the fatal stabbing of a Harmony Estate resident, who passed away in hospital. “The farming community is shocked and saddened by the tragedy and we ask that the privacy of the family be respected at this difficult time,” said Coetzer.
