Curro Somerset West, which entered 32 learners in the IEB National Senior Certificate examinations, was elated to announce its Class of 2023 achieved 51 subject A-aggregates, 59 subject B-aggregates and 61 subject C-aggregates.
Jaco Visser achieved top results with an average of 87,14% and six subject A aggregates. He also achieved in the IEB Top 1% of subject results for Afrikaans FAL. He obtained distinctions in Afrikaans FAL (97%), English HL (82%, life orientation (86%), life sciences (85%), mathematics (95%), Physical Sciences (86%), Business Studies (79%) and Accounting (79%).
Mikayla Claassen achieved an average of 83,71% and five subject A-aggregates. She was also in the IEB’s Top 1% in subject results for mathematical literacy and life orientation.
She obtained distinctions in Afrikaans FAL (83%), business studies (83%), CAT (82%), Life Orientation (95%) Mathematical Literacy (93%), accounting (71%) and English HL (79%).
Curro Somerset West also announced it was extremely proud of its 13 Ruta Sechaba Foundation learners who performed exceptionally well. All among this group of learners were from disadvantaged communities. They achieved a combined aggregate of 68%, a total of 20 subject A-aggregates, and all the Ruta Sechaba Foundation learners achieved BD passes, which will gain them access to degree study at a tertiary institution.
