In a remarkable turn of events Manah Private Academy has reopened its doors after facing closure as a result of the loss of its premises earlier this year.

The school, known for its Christian values and close-knit community, found itself without a location and was unable to secure a suitable replacement in time, leaving families in a state of uncertainty. The leadership team at Manah was forced to consider the heart-wrenching decision of closing the school altogether.

“It was one of the toughest decisions we’ve ever had to make,” said Manah principal Mrs G.

“We told our families that without premises we couldn’t continue operating. It was a deeply painful moment for our staff and parents.”

However, with encouragement and support from the Western Cape Education Department (WCED), Manah was urged to remain open and a glimmer of hope emerged. The school has now found a new home at Christ Church Somerset West.

On Monday 5 May, Manah reopened its doors, fully operational, and welcomed students back, ones who have chosen to continue their educational journey with the academy. The new premises offer not just a continuation, but an upgrade in facilities and environment.

Manah Private Academy is an English-medium Christian school registered with the WCED. The school embraces small class sizes, typically ranging from six to 10 students per grade, allowing for personalised attention and a strong sense of community.

“At Manah we believe in character over content. God first, followed by family and community,” said Mrs G. “Our academic approach is CAPS-aligned, but blended with Common Core literature and Cambridge methodology, what we call the three Cs.”

Manah is now accepting applications for the 2025 and 2026 school years, and invites families seeking a values-based, personalised education to apply.
