Somerset West police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a robbery that took place at the Vineyard Shopping Centre in Somerset West on Friday (1 August).

According to a police report, the incident occurred after 17:00, when the suspect entered the victim’s shop alleging the shopkeeper owed him money. He then pulled a knife out, threatened the victim and took all his cash.

The 29-year-old was arrested on Sunday (3 August) and faces a charge of robbery with a weapon other than a firearm.

He is expected to appear in Somerset West Magistrates’ Court.
