It’s all systems go for Macassar Beach, the venue for the second leg of 2022 Six Gun Grill Hot Summer of Touch (HSOT) series which takes place this Sunday 11 December from 09:15 to 16:00.

It will be the first time in the series history that Macassar gets to host a HSOT beach touchies event which will see four sections staged and hotly contested.

The first leg of the HSOT series was hosted on Wednesday 6 December after a very tricky set-up in some windy conditions at Camps Bay Beach.

For the first event of the calendar, the level of play was remarkable, and it is evident how much preparation has gone into the build-up of the series.

The Junior Section was won by the Barbarian Juniors, The Open Cup was won by Most Wanted and the Challenger series was won by Liberty Webb Touchies (Strand) who defeated the Barbarian Roosters in the final by 4-3.

The Pro Series was once again hotly contested in the pool stages with Friedlander Warriors and Score Forward Legends (Strand) topping their pools.

The Friedlander Warriors came up against Composure (Strand) in the first semi-final and a competitive game was marred by a physical altercation which saw both teams being punished and losing their place in the final. This saw the tournament being awarded to the Score Forward Legends by default.

As disappointing as this was for all involved, the Western & Southern Cape Beach Touch Association’s ‘Zero Tolerance’ approach to matters relating to discipline was enforced, and this decision was met with much appreciation and commendation by people looking for this type of behaviour to be eliminated from the game completely.

The Action now moves to Macassar Beach on Sunday.

Pre-registration, Pro Series Log Standings and further information can be found on www.hotsummeroftouch.co.za.
