Macassar police have opened a case of murder following the discovery of an unidentified body along Baden Powell Drive outside Macassar on Friday afternoon (7 November).
The grim discovery, according to a police report, was made by a passerby at 14:50, who immediately alerted authorities.
Medical personnel who responded to the scene declared the female victim deceased upon arrival.
The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain unclear, and police have launched a full investigation to determine what led to the fatality.
No arrests have been made, as detectives continue to gather evidence and follow leads.
The identity of the deceased woman has not yet been established, and police are calling on the community to come forward with any additional information which could aid in identifying the deceased or result in a breakthrough in the case.
The woman with short, blonde-coloured hair was found in a long-sleeved red top and jeans.
