Macassar athletes take on the track with flying colours

Two athletes of the Independent Runners Club of Macassar participated in the Western Province Clubs and High Schools Junior Track and Field Championships held at Vygiesskraal Stadium in Athlone from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 March. Saskia Martin (left) participated in the 200 m girls u-17 sprint and Naphtali Esau participated in the 1 500 m boys u-19 sprint. Both qualified to represent Western Province Athletics in Pretoria from Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 March for their national colours. “We wish them all the best and hope they make Macassar proud,” said coach Patrick Jansen, who added that if companies could assist with travelling costs for the athletes they can contact him at 071 172 3362.
