The gesture at the Strand facility was made possible through the dedicated generosity of local community leaders and businesses.

The event, which took place at midday, transformed the home’s dining hall into a scene of festive cheer. With decorated tables and an atmosphere of togetherness, the residents enjoyed a delicious Christmas meal and shared moments of joy with visitors. The celebration brought smiles and laughter to the facility, providing the kind of warmth that only community-driven initiatives can deliver.

The day’s festivities and gifts were driven and sponsored by Helene Wilson and Basil Cranko, both representing the Gordon’s Bay Business Association, as well as Carmen Viljoen of uKwandagrow. Their leadership was further bolstered by the wider Gordon’s Bay community, which contributed a variety of thoughtfully sponsored gifts. Together, these collective efforts ensured that every resident felt remembered and celebrated on the special day.

Beyond the meal itself, representatives and volunteers spent the afternoon engaging with the residents.

These interactions were designed to create meaningful connections, ensuring that no-one felt alone during the festive season.

The initiative served as a powerful reminder of the impact of collaboration between community members, business forums and local stakeholders.

During the event, organisers emphasised that the lunch was about more than just food and presents; it was about upholding dignity and compassion. The primary goal was to remind the elderly residents that they remain a deeply valued and integral part of the local community.
