Helderberg locals Jaco Castle, Chris Roos and Abdul Aziz Temoor had a fantastic time at the inaugural Veterans Over-40 World Cup. The South Africa Veterans Cricket Proteas team emerged victorious in the tournament, clinching the title after a fiercely contested final against New Zealand. The event, held at the Western Province Cricket Club, showcased an exceptional day of veterans cricket, highlighting the enduring passion and skill of the players. Temoor had a brilliant final by taking 2/27 in 8 overs and took a brilliant catch. Castle also had a good tournament by taking the second spot in the batting averages as well as regular wickets on all their games. Roos umpired six games and said that it was the pinnacle of his umpiring career.
