Helderberg High School’s Shiraaj Bret Williams excelled at the MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience at Somerset Mall (13-16 June), securing an impressive second place in the Schools Tournament EAFC competition against fierce local competition.

Shiraaj Bret Williams (pictured), a learner of Helderberg High School, was among the winners at the second leg of the MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience at Somerset Mall from Friday 13 to Monday 16 June. The 17-year-old local placed second in the Schools Tournament EAFC competition, which saw 15-year-old Ridhaa April from Think Digital School take the first place. The annual gaming experience drew fierce competition from local players across titles like EAFC 25, Beat Saber and Rocket League. With Somerset Mall gift cards up for grabs and qualification for the Canal Walk national finals on the line the stakes were high and the game play relentless. The EAFC competition was won by Zaheer Hoosain from Cravenby and Keeshan Pillay took the spoils of the Beat Saver competition home. In the Fighting Cups, Ethan Redman was victorious in Brawlhalla, Ismaeel Dawood won the Tekken competition and Masood Salie dominated in Street Fighter.
