Residents in parts of Somerset West are encouraged to prepare for a planned electricity interruption as critical infrastructure upgrades and maintenance will be carried out on Saturday 27 June.
The outage is scheduled from 18:00 on Saturday to 06:00 on Sunday (28 June). An alternative date will be communicated by the City of Cape Town should the work not proceed as planned.
The following areas will be affected: Lynn’s View; Bel’Aire; Helderberg Village; Vredenberg; Jonkers Hoogte; Helderberg Estate; La Montagne; Fraai Gelegen; Steenbras View; Helena Heights; Heldervue; Die Wingerd; Schonenberg; Somerset Ridge; Briza; The Link; West-ridge; Silverboomkloof; Spanish Farm; La Concorde; La Sandra; Monte Sereno; Highveld; Montchere; Goede Hoop; and Pearl Marina.
Residents of surrounding areas may also be affected.
Locals are advised to switch off appliances to avoid damage from power surges when supply is restored and treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the outage.
