South Hill Vineyards will be hosting an art exhibition titled Life in Colour on Saturday (10 June), a perfect opportunity to sip on some welcome drinks, savour the delectable canapés while admiring local artists’ work.

In addition to the exhibition opening, the boutique wine farm which is located in the Elgin Valley of Grabouw and offers accommodation, a wedding venue and restaurant, will also be introducing their delicious brand-new seasonal menu.

Interested locals can expect paintings, small and large-scale sculptures, photography, ceramics, mixed-media works, and a few conceptual pieces among the many types of artworks that South Hill offers. The artists featured at the exhibition include Lorraine Sykes, Karla Duterloo, Louise Barton Smith, Safari Art by Hanlie and Jon, Kyle Rinquest and Wendy Potgieter. What’s more is that several of these artists will stop by throughout the course of the day.

As mentioned, South Hill will also be introducing their delightful winter menu, which includes several new dishes as well as an all-round favourite breakfast dish, the Eggs Royale, which includes farm-fresh poached eggs served on hashbrowns with Hollandaise sauce and topped with smoked salmon and rocket.

A sure winter warmer on these cool winter days is some of the wintery meals featured on their new seasonal menu like their fall-off-the-bone oxtail stew, served with basmati rice and seasonal vegetables or ask the waiters about the chef’s soup of the day. The eatery also boasts a variety of indulgent desserts, such as the favoured and mouth-watering malva pudding with custard.

For those planning to visit the South Hill Restaurant and Art Gallery during the coming week, feel free to sample some tapas, such as the dukkah dry-rubbed sirloin, flame-grilled to perfection served with parmesan shavings and rocket. If you’re interested in a wine tasting, a must-try is the Cheese & Charcuterie Board which features a fine selection of Overberg cheeses and an outstanding wine list.

The exhibition opening takes place on Saturday at 11:00. Apart from the display of the superb artwork and delicious winter menu, live music also forms part of the experience. With all that’s on offer visitors may just consider the luxury accommodation at South Hill too.
