Helderberg International School learners participated in “Seeds Unbounded” and “Stories that Bind Us” workshops. In the one classroom, the creatives made bird feeders with honey and sunflower seeds to attract birds to their gardens, while the other group created drawings of their own gardens to share with other children of the world. Without realising it, the children were creating a full cycle of exchange between cultures they had never heard of or had an opportunity to meet – right in the art class. They were taught a deeper and more tangible lesson about the cycles of birds and those of their own gardens, and how important these are, especially to each other.
