On Friday 19 May the Somerset West Bowling Club hosted the annual Sally Pooke Ladies Trips Day at the Club.
In all, 24 teams from clubs in the Western Province and Boland took part with the basin being represented by teams from the host, Helderberg, Strand and Gordon’s Bay clubs.
The theme on the day was Rock n Roll and a prize was given to the best dressed team on the day.
The Sally Pooke day is organised annually by Somerset West and is made possible with a generous sponsorship from Personal Trust.
Apart from a lot of fun being had on the greens the competition was fierce and at the end of the day, Vera van Wyk (Helderberg Club), Bertha Lane (Stellenbosch Club) and Marion Wadell (Somerset West Club) combined well and took away the laurels.
Best dressed team on the day was won by Leonie Boshoff, Joanie Pool and Lise Walters from the Somerset-West club.
