Entries for the Totalsports Women’s Race, South Africa’s premier Women’s Month celebration, opened on Wednesday 10 April.

The Cape Town event will be held in the Mother City on Women’s Day (Friday 9 August), with runners taking off in Darling Street and crossing the line at the Grand Parade.

“What better way to honour National Women’s Day than by extending the celebration throughout the month of August,” reckoned Michael Meyer, managing director of Stillwater Sports. “We’re excited to unite with thousands of active women across three major cities for three action-packed days of celebration. We’re thrilled to open entries for 2024 and would like to encourage runners and walkers to register early to secure their spot on the start line. Join us for an invigorating morning alongside women from diverse backgrounds as we paint the streets of Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg pink in support of PinkDrive.”

Nikki Crous, head of marketing for Totalsports, said the iconic event is a celebration of a woman’s strength and empowerment, and implores women from all walks of life to join in the fitness fun and showcase the power and unity of women in South Africa.

Runners can enter the 10 km or 5 km, which starts ar 08:00 and 08:10 respectively. The cost of the longer race is R145 per person, while the 5 km event costs R110 per entrant. A temporary licence for runners costs R50. For more information on the race or to enter, visit www.totalsportswomensrace.co.za.
