The Boland Islamic Council Women’s League (BICWL) will once again play host to the much anticipated annual Pink Walk for Cancer, the 19th one, scheduled to take place on Sunday 5 March at Harmony Park on Gordon’s Bay Road in Strand.
This year the selected beneficiary is Pink Drive, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to creating and promoting awareness about cancer in South Africa, and potentially beyond.
Families, young and old, are strongly encouraged to show their support and enter the event, which costs R30 per entry and includes a bandana.
Participants can choose to walk 5 km or 8 km in the campaign to raise funds for those fighting cancer.
All entries are to be paid in cash with completed entry forms, and race numbers will be issued.
Refreshments will be provided at the 2 km, 4 km and 6 km marks and several food stalls will also be available as well as entertainment for the whole family. An anti-litter rule will be followed and as such bins will be placed at each kilometre for use.
Medals will be given to all finishers and great prizes will be won in the lucky draw.
Entry forms are available from organisers or enter at Cinnamon Spar in Strand on Friday afternoons, Saturdays and Sundays.
