In the spirit of Mandela Month, a dedicated team of 15 Capitec volunteers, together with Strong Schools Community Collaborative (SSCC), rolled up their sleeves and transformed four dreary bathrooms into vibrant spaces at Sir Lowry’s Pass Primary School.

Braving chilly weather and intermittent rain, the enthusiastic crew, supported by school staff and guided by the expert hand of Prosper Kekese, a pastor and volunteer from the community, breathed new life into the school’s facilities on Wednesday 24 July.

Donovan Vaaltyn and Prosper Kekese assisted the volunteers with guidance on painting the school’s bathrooms.

“A massive shout-out to Prominent Paints Strand whose generous donation of 80 litres of top-notch paint was instrumental in this colourful makeover,” said Janine Joubert, marketing and project administrator at SSCC. “Stefan du Toit and his team truly deserve recognition for their support.”

She added that school principal Charles de Morney was visibly delighted with the fresh-looking, green bathrooms, expressing sincere gratitude to Capitec, Prominent Paints, and SSCC for their invaluable contributions.

SSCC extended its heartfelt thanks to Capitec for their ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on schools. The organisation praised the bank staff’s passion, volunteering skills and enthusiasm, which have been instrumental in the success of numerous school projects across the basin.

“This collaborative effort is yet another testament to the power of community and the positive change that can be achieved when individuals come together for a common cause,” said Joubert.
