Learners of Manah Private Academy engaged in a self-defence class under the experienced hand of the Helderberg’s Tai-chi master Niklaas Thysen earlier this week. The retired police officer and Strand resident has been teaching tai-chi after mastering the art several years ago. On Monday he made his way to the school in Paul Kruger Street, Somerset West to teach Grade 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 learners – to educate and empower them with skills to prevent them from falling prey to attackers.
