The Somerset West police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a woman was fatally injured in an accident on the N2 on Tuesday 21 March.
Sergeant Suzan Jantjies, spokesperson for the Somerset West police, said police were called to the accident scene in the vicinity of the weighbridge around 12:00 last Tuesday. Jantjies said the driver of a black Mazda motor vehicle that struck the pedestrian explained to police that she was travelling from Cape Town towards Somerset West when the unknown woman suddenly darted out onto the highway and was struck down.
Police are urging anyone with additional information about the accident to contact Detective Warrant Officer Valton Lategan on 021 850 1344.
