The City of Cape Town’s Coastal Management Branch is hosting a walk-in information session for all interested and affected residents to view the final plans and project construction timeline of Phase 2 of the Strand Seawall upgrade and refurbishment project.

The relevant City officials will be available to answer any questions residents may have pertaining to the matter at the Strand Municipal building today (Wednesday 4 October).

The second phase of the Strand Seawall upgrade and refurbishment project involves the construction of an upgraded seawall, promenade, beach access points and associated infrastructure along Beach Road.

This Phase-2 project starts at the Strand Pavilion building and ends at Greenways, the planned work is similar to that of Phase 1 of the project that has already been completed between Da Gama Street and the Strand Pavilion.

The information session takes place in the Function Room on the first floor of the Strand municipal building, on the corner of Main Road and Fagan Street, from 16:00 to 19:00.

“Our Coastal Management team looks forward to taking residents through the details of the upgrade project, which will be on display at the information session,” said Deputy Mayor and Mayoral Committee member for Spatial Planning and Environment, Eddie Andrews. “All the final plans and timelines will be on display for the public to view on the day.

“We encourage residents to visit the open day and ask any questions they might have about this vital upgrade project, which they will be benefiting from within the next few years.”

The procurement process for the second phase of the Strand Seawall upgrade is underway until July next year, when the construction phase is set to commence in October next year until October 2026.
