The volunteers at Helderberg Hospice fulfil an important, varied and valuable role in the organisation. From being the face of hospice at the reception desk and answering the phones, and keeping the gardens looking beautiful, to lending extra hands and ensuring events run smoothly. The hospice shop in Main Road is gifted with wonderful volunteers who are there to welcome and assist visitors and patrons with all their shopping needs. The shop volunteers met at Sage and Thyme Village Coffee Shop at The Circle Centre in Caledon Street, Somerset West, on Thursday 25 January, to welcome one another into the new year, and sadly to say goodbye to two women, Margie Chapuis (left) and Bronwyn Hofmeyr (right), who were retiring after many years of unstinting service. Chapuis has volunteered for 17 years and Hofmeyr 13 years, an extraordinary gift of time given to any organisation. They will be missed at the shop. To volunteer please contact volunteer coordinator Karin Gordon (centre) on 021 852 4608, or visit www.helderberghospice.org.za.
