Youngsters can kick boredom to the curb this school holiday as Helderberg libraries will be offering a fun-filled programme to keep eager minds entertained.

As of today (Monday 3 October) libraries including Sir Lowry’s Pass, Gordon’s Bay and Macassar will offer a variety of activities for all ages, including movies, outdoor and board games, robotic boot camps, face painting, puppet shows, as well as a host of various crafts, storytelling and more to keep children entertained and positively engaged.

“The coming school holiday is short, but no less important. It’s the last break before learners knuckle down for their final exams of the year and it’s an opportunity to relax and recharge,” said Patricia van der Ross, Mayoral Committee member for Community Services and Health.

“Holidays are often seen as missed opportunities to learn and grow and where children are potentially exposed to negative social behaviour. With our libraries’ holiday programmes, children can remain engaged in recreational and educational opportunities.”

She further encouraged young City Library patrons to visit their nearest library and join in the fun events. “Our librarians work hard to ensure there is something for everyone and that activities are educational at the same time. Parents also have peace of mind that their children are kept busy within a safe space and in a constructive manner,” Van der Ross ensured.
