Gloria Botha School for Learners with Intellectual Disabilities will hold its annual fundraising dance at Strand Town Hall on Saturday 30 April at 19:00.

The Great Gatsby-themed event will not only raise funds for the registered NPO, but also help create awareness for its role in the community. The school was established more than 30 years ago and continues to strive to offer its learners the best education possible.

To meet its mission and provide services in the community, it relies on the generosity of individuals and businesses for support. The school calls on residents and business owners to consider supporting the annual fundraiser through monetary donations, raffle items and donations of vouchers.

“We are a private, independent school registered with the Western Cape Department of Education,” explained principal Tania Dawson. “We cater for the needs of learners with intellectual disabilities and special educational needs. These children’s needs cannot be met within a mainstream setting. We have a higher educator-to-learner ratio due to the additional needs of the pupils. Furthermore, we employ class assistants, who support teachers in meeting children’s learning and care needs. Teaching is geared to the pupils’ individual needs and abilities.”

Tickets for the dance are also on sale at R230 per person, which includes a two-course meal. A cash bar will be available on the night. Reserve your seat at the dance by Friday 8 April.
